why shop vintage

Why shop Vintage?

November 22, 2018

I know that I don’t have to convince most of you. If you are here, that means you probably love vintage as much as I do. But for those unconvinced here’s my subjective list of reasons why shopping vintage is literally the best thing.

7 reasons why shopping vintage is great!

  1. Shopping vintage is sustainable – there are no resources put into producing those things anymore and you get to save them from being discarded.
  2. You buy a unique item that shows off your personal style better than those mass-produced products.
  3. Vintage items are often better quality than new ones (yes, that’s not always a case but very often) as back then things were meant to last, not to be replaced every season.
  4. You buy a piece with history, something that was used back in time, something that was possibly precious to someone. Think about all the stories it holds.
  5. Things come back in style.
  6. It’s an investment as the value of vintage things often raises with time.
  7. It’s fun! It’s like a treasure hunt, you never know what you will find.

(If any of you knows about even more reasons please let me know and I’ll add them to the list!)

A bit of history

September 8, 2018

I’ve always been passionate about vintage things and the story behind them. During the last years I’ve been moving homes several times but wherever I lived, I used to turn these places into cluttered magazines of eclectic vintage stuff. They helped me feel more like myself.

I knew that eventually I need to either start selling vintage or I need to stop buying. As the latter wasn’t an option for me, in 2016 I opened a vintage Etsy shop under the name of  Retro forEva (see my sales here). After I moved back to Poland in August 2018 I was determined to continue selling vintage and bring it to the next level. I rebranded my company and opened the second Etsy shop under the name – RetroTerapia (see it here). Retro Terapia means Retro Therapy, as for me thrifting, photographing, researching vintage things is something that makes me feel more happy and alive:). During this last year on Etsy I have shipped parcels to 17 countries and 25 US states.

Now it’s the time for the next chapter. I’m not leaving Etsy behind but I want to expand and move on. I have worked on this online shop all summer and I’m thrilled to finally present it to you. It will be a main outlet for my vintage collection but I also hope to make it a place where you can find inspiration and information about Vintage design. I’m not a writer (clearly) but please contact me with any questions or blog posts suggestions and I will do my best.

If you are looking for something specific let me know and maybe I will be able to source it for you.
